Eurodac is the centralised European database that stores and processes the digitalised fingerprints of asylum seekers and irregular migrants who have entered a European country. This helps determine the Member State responsible for examining an asylum application.

Eurodac is a centralised EU database that collects and processes the digitalised fingerprints of asylum seekers. Set up in 2003, it is currently used by all EU-28 countries as well as Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. eu-LISA keeps Eurodac fully operational and in service 24/7, allowing national authorities to constantly exchange and share information.
